an anecdote

Today, on my way home from going to pick up some cloth diapers, I stopped to get some groceries. 15% cream was on sale, and being that cream is delicious and I like to cook with it often, I decided I would buy some. Upon putting said cream in my cart, I took note of the expiry date to make sure that I wasn't buying cream that would expire next week. It was then that I noticed that the cream was labelled best before April 21st, which is five days AFTER my due date.

So there it is folks, I have cream that expires after my due date. I'm freaking the f*ck out.

Happy leap year day, everybody! I can feel a growing baby under my ribcage and I'm looking for good deals on cloth diapers when i should be doing housework or homework. so be it! I forgot to tell you all about my surprise baby shower that happened on sunday! I was completely bamboozled, fresh from work, and one of my very best friends had even thought to by me a brand new party dress for the occasion. it was wonderful and I have eaten nothing but cake for the past three days as a result. I will post pictures once they are developed (yes, developed! they got me a disposable camera for all my hard copy souvenir needs.) Thanks to all my wonderful girlfriends. you are so loved.

memory lane

I'm just missing my hubby while he's away and taking a little trip down memory lane by looking at pictures of him in the early days of our relationship, back when he was playing in my favourite band of all time.

He is, at the very least in my eyes, a raging hunk of a man.

diy maternity shots

yesterday morning, fresh out of bed, pillow wrinkles still creased into my cheeks, I decided to take some pictures. Inspired by two images i found on Pinterest (yes, I have one too!) I decided to give my own pretty pregnancy silhouette pic a shot.

Aren't these two photos jut lovely? I'm crazy about the grainy texture and the dramatic affect that comes through the contrast without the aid of a lot of detail.

I had to rearrange furniture a bit a construct a tripod with my coffee table and a stool, but eventually i (kind of) got the effect I was looking for. Here are my two favourite shots! I took a couple of nudie ones, too, but those are for me and B.'s eyes only... sorry folks!

I'd like to try it again with the assistance of somebody else. It's hard to get just the right angle when you're running back and forth trying to ensure the timer is working properly, but overall I think they worked out well.

tommorrow's party.

B. is away on tour, he left yesterday and I already don't quite know what to do with myself! Tommorrow evening will bring a reunion with my old friend, Sarah, who is currently living in St. John's, Newfoundland, completing her Master's in Philosophy. I am most excited at the prospect of seeing her again after a long time away and also excited because I plan on making this.

the show!

Hey everybody! The valentine's day show went off without a hitch (yes, i realize it wasn't on valentines day, but it just has such a nice ring to it!) I felt puffy but ended up having a great time, despite doing door all night. The bump was quite a conversation starter, to be sure! B. and the boys knocked everybody out of the park and played an awesome set. i didn't do quite as much dancing as usual but still managed to make it on to the dance floor for some of my favourites. My bladder did have an effect on this, however. At one point during his set B. played a song written about me called Terrible Tara Belle. He announced the song ahead of time and dedicated it to me, telling the crown what an awesome wife and soon to be baby mama i was to him and asked me to come dance out front for my special song. Problem was, I was on the can having a little piddle! Rockabilly songs are so short that by the time I was finished up and had made it to the fron of the stage, the song was ending! Better luck next time, I guess.

My biggest regret? I lost track of time and didn't get to put on my make-up! I guess if that is my biggest regret then it must have been pretty great! Oh, and one more: We ended up having a bunch of people crash at our little apartment that night, all of them arriving pretty late and waking me up. All was well in the end, but being pregnant and exhausted doesn't seem to be a great combination for my temperament.

Valentine's Party!

I am just getting ready for a big ol' show. It's me and B.'s sixth annual Valentine's Day show and dance! Blake books the bands and picks up the gear and plays the show and I decorate, usually get quite tipsy and work the door. This year will be sans tipsy, obviously, but fortunately the bar serves non-alcoholic beer so I will not have to go without my beloved beers.

I am all dressed up wearing the only red shirt that fits. I tried another one on that I successfully wore to a SNAP! party about a week before I was pregnant and I looked ridiculous. My boobs really have gotten massive. They were popping out the top and even at the armpits where the armpit holes are. I still feel large and squished as an overstuffed sausage but at least my clothes fit. Thank goodness for Forever XXI stretchy black pencil skirts. One of the only fit me then/fit me now items I have. The list becomes smaller and smaller and still, I refuse to buy any maternity clothes! I'm feeling a bit anxious about this whole event but hopefully all will go well. Wish me luck!
