Toronto - day 2

We had planned to do some Christmas shopping in Toronto and make a good day of it, but alas, we got there and it was sooo cold! Both of us were still pretty tired from staying up too late chatting in Peterborough, so I think both of us were feeling a need to stay inside and cozy. We went to see Ronnie Haywood, a legendary Canadian rockabilly bassist, play at a place called the Dominion. There were some pretty cool prints of some of toronto’s resident rockabillies on the wall. The music was great but I was exhausted. I guess I’m not much of a rock and roller anymore, because I laid my head down and had a nap right there at the table in the bar. I was a little embarrassed to do so and I didn’t want to seem disrespectful to the band but with a bun in the oven I just need that extra rest. I woke up after about fifteen minutes of solid sleep feeling entirely refreshed. Overall, I think a little nap was the better of two options, the other option being me scowling at b. and demanding to leave. Not good.

Eventually after much driving around and one DELICIOUS big fat burrito, B and I met up with our dear friend sian, one of the coolest women I know. She used to work as an outreach doula for women in need and so we talked a lot about my pregnancy and the importance of having a doula. It was so awesome to see her and I just love her little apartment, just filled to the brim with awesome books, records and unique vintage finds.
